Occasionally, NOFMA-certified flooring may not live up to expectations. In these instances, NOFMA has established procedures for resolving complaints involving NOFMA-certified flooring. The first step is to contact the manufacturer, who will very likely resolve the issue without involving the Association. If you are unable to identify the manufacturer, or if you are not satisfied with the manufacturer’s resolution, we recommend you contact the NOFMA office at 901.526.5016 or info@NOFMA.org.
If the manufacturer is a NOFMA member, they may request a Complaint Inspection to be conducted by a NOFMA staff member. A Complaint Inspection represents an unbiased third party opinion of the issue at hand and what likely caused it. NOFMA members agree to abide by the results of the inspection.
You might also want to consider commissioning your own inspection, utilizing a NOFMA-Certified Wood Flooring Inspector (CWFI). NOFMA Certified Wood Flooring Inspectors have undergone rigorous training and certification procedures to gain the knowledge and experience to diagnose basic to complex flooring issues. These professionals are the most knowledgeable and thoroughly trained inspectors available.
